Must-to-Know Facts for CSS Examination Candidates

Almost from all education institutions in Pakistan, the most prestigious name is "Federal Public Service Commission", also known as FPSC. The department has announced results of CSS examination three weeks ago which was very impatiently awaited by all.
As soon as FPSC announced the results, hundreds of successful candidates felt proud, whereas thousands of failures become upset from failing to realize their dreams. From thousands of candidates who got failed in CSS, there are many students who have very strong educational background. After the official CSS result announced, these students are very disappointed from the education system and errors exist in it.
When Civil Service is introduced as a foundation which forms all the system of state. It means, to cater the severe political challenges in Pakistan in present times, most competent people should be incorporated, agree?
However, practical and realistic approach perhaps are far and far from the thoughts of this nation. Since many decades, CSS Examination has been disturbing people from all sectors of life.
In year 2014, a total number of 13,170 candidates participated in the competition out of only 439 students got passed. Although it is a very small ratio, yet it is better then previous year which was 235 passing candidates out of total 11,406.
Those who are unfamiliar from system of CSS, they should know that even after passing the examination, it does not mean that they are selected too. It only means that they are among the candidates who have passed written examination of all subjects.
Saying these are the most chosen persons from whole country will not be wrong, right? Often newspapers publish long long columns and articles daily on this subject that why these top assets are not putting forward Pakistan? Our bureaucracy is one side of this question that may be called "Golden Triangle".
This triangle is made of those institutions which have been stopping the country since its beginning from prospering. Actually we should raise questions on such institutions and procedures which only appoint specific persons for higher posts.
Every year hundreds of complaints are submitted by CSS candidates, whereas papers of your favorite magazines are filled with people's opinions and emotions, yet no awareness for practical steps and real actions is made.

How Bad is Education System?

It is a system where graduates from Harvard, Columbia and Melbourne University, and best writers of newspapers fail in English Grammar every year whereas those illiterate go through the CSS competition easily. On the other hand hard workers if luckily got pass, fail to make it through in English subjects.
We have physically asked English newspapers writers who have failed more than one time in CSS that in the end what really is need to pass?
Most answer that success depends on luck, prayers and examiner mood who will check the paper. If you have been met with CSP officers, then you have realized that some even do not know how to make correct sentence with proper grammar.
If there is a tested way of success, that is memorize words. This is a best way in CSS competition after your luck and reading verses of Quran.
Historical dates, stories and facts and figures, forgotten and dissolved are more important than arguments and analysis.

But in spite of all, Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) cannot be held responsible for all this. 67 years ago, the Colonial system left by British, still prevails in our society. We believe that education and merit system which was given us by our Prophet, is still useful.
We know that on reacting at this point, many people will say that this article has a bias against those who born in Pakistan or getting education in Pakistan but the point was about merit. 
I'm just one of thousands of Pakistanis, who are not convinced of the benefits of examination system, in which a sheet of eight to ten grammatical errors.
The eighth grade written grammar in examination paper like a child, who was then accused be checking?
For example, in 2009, General Knowledge paper, lets examine two questions:-

“Which radio station existed at the time of Pakistan”
“Who drafted the Wardha scheme under the guidance of Ghandi”

You will never see such spelling of "Gandhi" in any writing language of the world and what to talk about abilities of the person who wrote this. If the country's youth has to be disappointed, and flawed system has to force capable boys and girls to go abroad, stay happy, we are working very well.
We have to ask ourselves the question, why we are so backward in education, scientific evidence, research, and new efforts?
