According to NEPRA representative, the cost of electricity has been 0.82/unit cut down. National Electricity Power Regulatory Authority has announced the news on 24th June, 2014. Current electricity bills will not be entertained with the new price. The new price will be applied from July. During a hearing and discussion in NEPRA, the Central Power Purchasing Agency has told that electricity production increased in the month of May. In the meeting, it was also explored that price of Furnace Oil and Line Losses has also reduced by 0.78/unit and 0.14/unit respectively.
During the month, the total production of Electricity was 7660000000 units while the cost of electricity production was amounting to 62000000000. Therefore, the cost saved during the month was amounting to 18000000000 which allowed consumer to enjoy reduced priced of 0.82/unit in their upcoming electricity bills. It was also discussed that why production from Uch-I and Uch-II is not utilized. NTDC official told that no transmission line is available for electricity coming from Uch-II therefore, supply is interrupted.
On this, authority suggested the government to take early actions for developing transmission line so that electricity can be utilized from Uch-II also. NEPRA agreed the suggestion and approved the 0.82/unit reduction in electricity price.
