Followed by the news regarding reduction of electricity prices, here is another good news for those who are going keep fast in Ramadan. This latest news came to us from Karachi where K-Electric has announced that there will be no load-shedding in Ramadan during Sehar and Aftar timings.

According to the press-release, residential and commercial users will be exempted from load shedding during Sehri and Aftari. Not only this, the E-Electric has decided to supply uninterrupted electricity to all major mosques in Karachi during Esha and Taraweeh time. It is worth to note that KESC has been facilitating citizens of Karachi since 2010 by taking such steps to keep the moral fasting high.

Talking with press, the K-Electric's representative differentiate the load-shedding from power outage:
It is important to understand the difference between loads-shedding and faults/tripping. KE is operating through approximately 1,400 feeders scattered over an area as vast as 6,500 sq. km. Moreover, there are about 63 Grid Stations with 2,500 sub-stations which include a total 20,000 PMTs. Covering such a network it is natural if a fault erupts, and there is sometimes a chance of tripping at these grid stations as well that leads to power outages which should not in any way be confused with load-shedding.
To cope with unexpected power interruption, the management of the company has deputed special Rapid Response Teams (RPTs) to deal with sudden tripping. Apart from this, 4 control rooms at for all regions have been developed to observe whole network of KE. These control rooms will operate round the clock. For special complaints, consumers can contact at 118 for any queries.

Karachi Electric has suggested the Government of Sindh beside CM to take a special participation to resore KANUPP plant before commencement of Ramadan 2014. Due to some technical failure, the plant has stuck for more than 4 months which affected a supply of 70MW to KE.

Apart from Government officials, company stressed on users to play their important role by taking prompt actions for cutting down power shortage and facing energy crises in Pakistan.
